NAVARRE PRESS ARTICLE (3/25/2010)
Members of First Baptist Church Navarre pause for a photo while loading buckets to be delivered to quake-stricken Haiti. The five-gallon buckets, which contain non-perishable food items like rice, peanut butter and flour and feed families of six-to-eight for up to a week, were assembled as part of the Buckets of Hope program, a disaster-relief effort begun in Jacksonville, Fla. Pastor Jim Pennington said the program was a great success in Navarre. "We've got 238 buckets here alone," he said. "It's a wonderful sight."

Members of FBCN collected 250 5-gallon buckets and filled them with a list of food items needed by people in Haiti.
They enlisted Bible Study classes, community organizations and businesses to participate in this ministry of compassion and love.
Four of our Disaster Relief Volunteers went to Marianna for 2 days to assist in the the transportation process of the buckets. They were Bernice Edmondson, Julie Trosper, Deanna Cook & Patty Pennington. These ladies tell us that the northwest collection site in Marianna is already reporting over 15,000 Buckets collected...coming from the Panhandle of Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Many more are expected to be delivered to this site along with other collection sites across the state of Florida. They will be sent to Jacksonville on April 1 and then shipped to Haiti.
We can be confident that these Buckets will be delivered to the people who need them. Our Florida Baptist Convention has been working with the Haitian Baptist Convention for almost 20 years. We have strong ties and networks with reliable, dependable people who can be trusted to place these desperately needed supplies directly into the hands of the people they are intended for.
