How Do I Become a Christian?
HOW CAN I KNOW I HAVE ETERNAL LIFE?
God Loves You!
Just as you are. (Jeremiah 31:3; John 3:16; Rom. 5:8)
Our Sin
Sin is "law-less-ness" (1 John 3:4; Jam. 4:7)
Sin is universal, yet personal (Rom. 3:23; Is. 53:6)
Sin's Consequences
Sin separates us from a relationship with God (Is. 59:2)
Sin kills, destroys & causes death (Rom. 6:23)
Sin pollutes...good works are unacceptable (Is. 64:6)
Provision of Christ
He was born in your place...He identifies with us and understands our needs & dilemma (John 1:1,14)
He lived in your place...He never sinned (2 Corinthians 5:21)
He died in your place...to pay for your sins (1 Pet. 2:24)
He rose in your place...to provide Heaven (Eph. 2:8,9)
Eternal Life
Is offered by God's grace..."grace" is God's unmerited favor and undeserved love (Eph. 2:8,9)
Is received by faith
The Definition of faith is "trusting God to do what He has said He will do"...provide for your salvation and forgiveness of sin (Rom. 4:20,21)
The Object of our faith is Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31)
The Response of faith is to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior (Rom. 10:9,10; John 1:12)
The Prayer of faith involves confession (1 John 1:9), repentance (Acts 3:19), forgiveness (Ps. 32:1), acceptance (John 3:16) & thankfulness (Rom. 6:17)
The Time for faith is right now (2 Corinthians 6:2)
Love's Command
Love the Lord...commitment (Mt. 22:37-38)
Love yourself as God does...consecration (Mt. 22:39)
Love your neighbor...compassion (Mt. 22:39)
Can I lose my salvation and be lost again?
Absolutely not! The important thing to remember about salvation is that it is not something which you did. God saved you. You trusted Him to do that. You gave yourself to Him. If you did not save yourself, how can you un-save yourself? "Salvation belongs to the Lord" (Ps. 3:8). There are 3 witnesses to the security of your salvation. Their priority and importance are in this order:
1-The Eternal Witness...the Word of God
John 1:12-13;6:37-40;10:27-30; Acts 20:28; Rom. 8:28-38; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21; Gal. 4:4-5; Eph. 1:3-8; Col. 1:19-22; 2 Tim. 1:12; 1 John 5:12-13; Jude 24
2-The Internal Witness...the Holy Spirit
John 10:27; 1 John 3:18-27;4:5-6,13;5:1-12
3-The External Witness...the Believer's life
Mt. 5:16; John 15:7-8; 1 Corinthians 3:11-15; Eph. 1:4; Titus 3:5-8; 1 John 1:6-8;2:3-6;3:3-20;4:7-8,16-21;5:1-2
